THE RED LION

Welcome to your local pub, The Red Lion.

Just about every English village, no matter how small, has a local Public House (Pub). These pubs are often not only the centre of the community, but they are the only place where locals can meet as the village shops have long since fallen prey to the large out of town hypermarkets. Pubs don't just serve drinks, they are a place where people meet, where they arrange (and play) football and darts matches, where summer cricket matches are organised, fund raising raffles are held, quiz nights raise money for charity, and most of all, it is a place where the community can come together. Some of the more traditional pubs provided some forms of entertainment for their customers - darts, skittles, dominoes, quizzes and cards (no betting allowed). Later this century 'karaoke' became popular along with juke boxes and electronic games machines. Your pub 'The Red Lion' is just like one of these small Pubs, tucked away in a remote English village. Come in and join us and see for yourself some of the things that can be found in local pubs - apart from drinks!!!!

  • So you know all about Pubs, English history, customs and events? They why not come to the 'lounge bar' and join in on a quiz night? Entrance is free!

  • Fancy a game of darts? Then go and join the team in the public bar - they are friendly to strangers but ONLY if they have Internet Explorer 4 or higher (sorry).
