BRANDY
SAUCE
This makes a
really nice tasting sauce but PLEASE do not add 'just a little more
Brandy'
it WILL ruin the sauce. Ingredients:
50g or 2oz butter
25g or 1 oz plain flour
600ml or 1 pint milk which has been warmed
2 tablespoons of caster sugar
3 tablespoons of brandy. (You can use rum instead).
Method:
1. Melt the
butter in a saucepan over a medium heat then gently sprinkle in the
flour.
Use a wooden spoon to stir together.
2. Continue
to stir whilst now pouring in the warm milk.
3. Sprinkle
with sugar and leave to simmer for 8 minutes, stirring all of the time.
4. Add the
brandy (or rum) and continue to simmer and stir for another 5 minutes.
5. If you do
not stir the sauce will stick to the pan.
